Terms and Conditions

Roddy Willis Ski Instructor Booking Portal
Terms and Conditions

1. Overview

Roddy Willis operates a booking platform that connects clients with independent, highly qualified ski instructors in Verbier.

Roddy Willis operates in two distinct capacities:

  • (a) as an independent ski instructor, offering personal instruction services; and
  • (b) as a booking platform, facilitating introductions between clients and other independent instructors.

Where Roddy Willis is personally delivering the lesson, the contract is between the client and Roddy Willis as an individual instructor.

Where another instructor delivers the lesson, the contract is directly between the client and that independent instructor.

Except where Roddy Willis is the instructor, the platform acts solely as an intermediary and does not provide instruction, guiding, or coaching services.

2. Independent Instructors

All instructors listed on the platform, including Roddy Willis when acting in a personal capacity, operate as independent self-employed professionals.

Instructors are not employees, partners, or agents of the platform.

Each instructor is solely responsible for:

  • Their own professional qualifications and certifications
  • Compliance with Swiss law and all applicable local and resort regulations
  • Holding valid and appropriate insurance cover, including liability insurance
  • Delivering the lesson or guiding service

Each instructor is solely responsible for ensuring they are authorised to provide instruction within the relevant resort.

Roddy Willis does not supervise, control, or direct the services of independent instructors listed on the platform.

3. Booking and Instructor Allocation

At the time of booking, the identity of the instructor delivering the lesson will be confirmed.

Bookings may be made:

  • With Roddy Willis as the instructor (subject to availability), or
  • With another independent instructor available via the platform

Where a specific instructor is requested, this will be honoured where possible. Where no specific instructor is selected, a booking request may be accepted by an available independent instructor.

4. Booking and Payment

Bookings are confirmed once an instructor has accepted the booking request.

Payment is arranged directly between the client and the instructor. The instructor may require full payment in advance in order to secure the booking.

Roddy Willis does not process or collect payment on behalf of instructors and is not responsible for any payment arrangements or disputes.

Unless otherwise agreed directly with the instructor, lesson prices do not include lift passes, equipment hire, or other mountain-related expenses.

5. Cancellations and Refunds

Cancellation and refund terms are set by the instructor delivering the lesson.

Clients should confirm these terms directly with the instructor at the time of booking.

Where Roddy Willis is the instructor, the following cancellation policy applies:

  • More than 14 days before the booking: Full refund minus an administrative fee of 10% (maximum 250 CHF)
  • 7–14 days before: 50% refund
  • Less than 7 days: No refund

If an instructor is unable to deliver the service due to illness, injury, or unforeseen circumstances:

  • A replacement instructor may be offered
  • If no replacement is available, any refund will be handled directly by the instructor

Failure to attend a lesson without notice will be treated as a cancellation.

6. Weather, Conditions, and Lift Operations

Skiing is an outdoor activity and is subject to weather, snow conditions, and lift operations.

Lessons will proceed in most conditions unless the instructor determines that safety is compromised.

Refunds relating to weather or lift conditions are at the discretion of the instructor.

7. Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for:

  • Holding appropriate travel and activity insurance
  • Ensuring they are physically capable of participating
  • Wearing suitable equipment and clothing
  • Following the instructor’s safety guidance at all times
  • Accurately representing their ability level

Participation in skiing and mountain activities involves inherent risks. Off-piste skiing involves additional risks including avalanche hazard, variable terrain, and changing conditions.

Participation is at the client’s own risk.

8. Liability

Where Roddy Willis is not the instructor, the platform acts solely as an intermediary.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Roddy Willis accepts no liability for:

  • Injury, loss, or damage sustained during lessons
  • The actions, decisions, or conduct of any independent instructor
  • Any indirect or consequential loss

Where Roddy Willis personally delivers the lesson, liability is limited to that arising in his capacity as an independent instructor.

Any claims or disputes must be addressed directly with the instructor responsible for delivering the service.

9. Complaints

Any concerns should be raised directly with the instructor at the time of the lesson where possible.

Formal complaints should be submitted in writing within 7 days.

Roddy Willis may assist in facilitating communication as a courtesy but has no obligation to mediate or resolve disputes.

10. Equipment and Safety

Clients must ensure that their equipment is appropriate and in good working condition.

Helmets are strongly recommended.

For off-piste lessons, avalanche safety equipment (transceiver, shovel, and probe) is mandatory. Instructors may refuse to proceed if appropriate equipment is not available.

11. Timing and Attendance

Lessons will finish at the agreed time regardless of late arrival.

12. Force Majeure

Neither the instructor nor Roddy Willis shall be liable for failure to perform due to events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to extreme weather, natural hazards, lift closures, government restrictions, or travel disruption.

13. Media

Photos or videos may be taken during lessons for promotional purposes unless the client requests otherwise in writing.

14. Privacy

Personal information is used solely for arranging bookings and will only be shared where necessary to deliver the service.

15. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by Swiss law. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Valais, Switzerland.

16. Acceptance of Terms

By confirming a booking, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and Conditions.

Summary

  • You book through the platform
  • You receive instruction from an independent professional
  • Payment and responsibility sit directly with the instructor delivering your lesson
